Aimee (she/her)

Aimee has worked closely with families for over sixteen years cultivating nurturing environments for children to grow and flourish. Her work narrowed in 2017 to focus on the early days of parenting when she became a Postpartum Doula. Aimee believes that when families are supported, resourced, and connected during the first weeks after bringing a baby home it can change the trajectory of their parenting journey, improve family relationships, and strengthen community. She is grateful to work in this short window of time as families get to know their little one and find their footing.

Community has always been important to Aimee. When she is not helping parents build theirs, she is inviting Doulas over to her home for food & connection, supporting new Doulas as they discover this work, and almost always planning an event to bring people together.

You can also find Aimee working on her fixer-upper of a house, attempting to grow things in her garden, and riding her bicycle around the city with her husband.

A NOTE FROM AIMEE ON THE PHOTOGRAPHS

All the photographs on my site were captured by Alec Mills Photography as I spent one last morning working with this family.

This family welcomed their first baby into the world Fall of 2020, when things were still so unknown with Covid-19 and the world felt overwhelming. I felt such gratitude being able to support them as we all navigated this time. Their second baby came two years later during another wave of Covid, RSV, and Flu season. Each time we practiced communication and trust as is necessary working intimately in people’s homes.

The morning of Alec Mill’s visit was the first time I was unmasked around this family. Previously I always wore a kn95 or n95 mask in their home. Being unmasked together felt special and a glimpse of what this work was like before Covid-19. While I loved this unmasked morning together, I don’t plan to take my mask off anytime soon at work. I just value your safety too much and know it is a simple thing I can do to protect everyone in your home.

What I typically look like supporting families in their homes.
