Treating an Infant Who Has Flu

Contracting flu can be dangerous for infants. Thus, it is absolutely important to know how to take care of a sick baby in order to minimise this condition’s impact on his health as well as that of other family members. Written below are some instructions on how to properly treat your tiny child.

You should always start by keeping yourself healthy by taking safety precautions like washing hands as often as possible with antibacterial soap. That way, you will not get sick and be able to continue caring for your little one.

Next, remove all items from the baby’s environment that may have flu contaminants on them. This includes bedding, pacifiers, and toys. Wash the items mentioned with soap and hot water to kill any influenza virus.

Keep your infant hydrated by providing him with liquids as often as possible. Breastfeed or bottlefeed the baby often or offer him frozen fruit bars or some soup broth if he is already eating solid foods. Finally, encourage your tot to sleep as often as possible. Allow him to take naps, even if it is out of the regular schedule, especially when he feels or looks tired.
