Nutrition

The baby’s proper nutrition is the primary factor in keeping them healthy and strong. Starting from pregnancy up to his toddler years, the baby’s immune system is determined by how mothers took care of their own health from that time onwards.

Breast milk still, remains the undisputed food that ensures newborn babies get the optimum nutrition that they need most. Starting a baby on solid food is preferable when he/she reaches six months of age, since this is the stage where their digestive system is more ready to process food. Six months is also usually the age where babies are able to differentiate between chewing and sucking.

They should be able to hold their heads up and understand to open their mouths and use their tongue to avoid choking. Hence, there is no need to rush to feed your baby into solid food. Wait until he/she is ready within that six months time and up.

Parents should be extra cautious when getting their little ones started on solids since they may associate food with choking when they experience it the first time. Creating phobia on these innocents is the last thing we want. Refer to recipe books or the Internet for guides on the basics of solid food baby feeding.
